Saturday - 7:30 PM Freestyle Burns UP In Birmingham! The Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex was the the place to be on Saturday night as the Big #1 Motorsports FMX, presented by Toyota Trucks was on hand for some, "controlled chaos"! In addition to the FMX regulars, John Daly, Melvin and Olga Urias were on hand to perform in the, "Globe Of Death", and had as many as three riders in the Globe at once. Also, Keith Wineland was in attendance showing off his moto-trials skills, he was very skillful and the fans were appreciative of his mad skills, showing off balance and control! A special thanks goes out to the US Air Force Honor Guard for the University of Alabama. The top qualifiers leading into the Main Event were(in this order), Brody Wilson, JJ Romans, Dan Newth, Derek Cook, and Casey Higgins. On to the main, Casey was the first rider out of the tunnel and had things going his way until he had a, "dead sailor" or a no-trick, he said that it was due to slippage just before the take-off...judges scores, an 88. Next up "DC" took center stage, and the Piedmont, Oklahoma, resident. His high-flying routine took Higgins out of the, Big #1 Hot Seat with a score of 91! "Stuntman Dan" Newth, of Vermont was next, and although he hucked a backflip, the judges were on Cooks' side, because of his trick count and Newth had to settle for a 90.75. It was JJ Romans turn and he did not disappoint, even though he came out to the Backstreet Boys, haha! JJ is an incredible rider with a great disposition, he did three backflips, each a different variation and won over the judges, his score, a 92.5. Finally, Brody Wilson, a fan favorite was up...Brody threw out a list of KOD's, with flare, a Holy Rock Solid, and the hugest sidewinder I have ever seen! As the drama built, the judges scores came in and Brody Wilson would take home the honors on this night with a score of 93.5.
