FMX Flies into the nation’s Capitol

The Verizon Center in Washington DC was the site of the final stop of the FMX Tour and there was a large crowd in the stands to witness all the action. The weather was unseasonably warm outside and the FMX action was downright hot inside. During qualifying, Jason Rowe, Billy Walls, JJ Romans and Javier Villegas were the four left standing after the smoke had settled and in place for the main event, however, a miscue by Billy Walls, of California during the Team FMX, put Shawn Conners into the main. Walls crashed into the face of the landing ramp…goods news though Walls walked away, the bad news was that he couldn’t run in the main due to his handlebars which much resembled a pretzel. The Team FMX was won by Jason Rowe and Javier Villegas, moving on to the main event, Connors was first up and had a great run, however Jason Rowe was next and put a great run of his own, and knocked Connors off the Hot Seat. Next up was JJ Romans; he came out and put in some backflips and variables which put him in the crowds favor and the judges’ favor. Lastly, Javier Villagas was the top qualifier, he came out with a backflip and midway through his run he missed a ramp and circled the stage and that was all JJ Romans needed to clinch the victory!

A very special thanks to former F-1, IRL, and Cart racing star, Roberto Guerrara who was on hand to represent Toyota. Also, Brad Convis, from Coleman Powersports, and even Davey Coombs who was on hand representing Racer X Illustrated. The Fearless Flores’ tempted the globe of death and a great job to the Hell on Wheels BMX Freestyle Team. A very special night indeed for all those in attendance, we will see you on the AST Dew Tour coming to a city near you this summer!
