Benoit Milot’s freestyle career was launched in 1996 with a simple heel-clicker and has since evolved into a lucrative occupation. This former Canadian motocrosser says he made the transition into freestyle because “it’s more fun and you get a better feeling of accomplishment when you pull a new trick. You also do a lot more traveling.”
Benoit’s biggest achievement is qualifying for the X Games in 2002, but doing the Global X Games ranks right up there as well, along with his numerous freestyle wins in Germany.
“I won a couple of whip contests in Germany against ‘Mad’ Mike Jones,” says Benoit. “I also won at the Bermuda Motocross Open of Freestyle.”
As far as IFMA competition goes, Benoit’s only success came in the doubles competition, where he and Mike Mason took a win last season.
For 2006, the Suzuki of Canada-sponsored rider says, “My goal is basically to stay healthy, because I crashed two times this year and I broke my back, and I have a problem with my knee. So to stay healthy is key.”
